"Sorapuchi" is a 46-minute drama depicting the inner conflict and growth of a boy fighting the after-effects of pediatric cancer. The setting is Hokkaido’s Takikawa City in summer. "Solar Kids’ Camp," aims to provide camps with medical facilities for kids struggling with serious diseases. Nobuo, a high school senior, attends the trial camp for the second time. He wants to be a doctor and hopes to have meaningful experiences at the camp. Secretly, he has also fallen in love with Natsumi, a camp volunteer. Although a pediatric cancer survivor, Nobuo still suffers from after-effects. Unsure of himself, he keeps a distance from others. The same age and more confident, Masahiko senses Nobuo's bitterness and meddlesomely says, "You should tell Natsumi how you feel." Further taunting makes Nobuo's blood boil and an impulsive punch causes unexpected trouble… The gentle patience of the camp staff, especially the moral support of Dr. Kashiwagi, leads Nobuo to reflect on his life. He comes face to face with a young campmate, Toru, who struggles to deal with leukemia. Even enduring the challenges of severe illness, Nobuo must live his youth like everyone else. “Sorapuchi” portrays the first step to adulthood of one boy amidst the grand scenery of Hokkaido.
