10-year-old Midori lives with her mother while her father lives abroad on business and hardly ever comes home. Midori can sense that her mother feels alone but knows there’s nothing she can do to help. Midori’s feelings mirror her mother’s. She spends time with her friends to fill the void in her heart, but it never truly goes away. Meanwhile, 10-year-old Futa is also without a father. His mother is kind but devoutly religious and frequently at odds with his rebellious older sister. Midori and Futa both fall asleep at night, wishing things were different.
